From start to finish, we’ve got your install covered — solar, battery, or roof.
Your Install, Step by Step
Step 1: Let’s Talk
This one’s obvious — but it matters. Nothing moves forward until we talk. Whether you prefer email or a phone call, our energy consultants will walk you through the process and help design the right system for your home: solar, battery, roof, or all three. We’ll listen to your needs, goals, and budget, then build a system tailored specifically to you.
What Makes Us Different
-
We don’t push, pressure, or play games. No “sign today or else” tactics. If you need time to think, take it. We want you to make the best decision.
-
Seriously — you should shop around. Different companies will recommend different systems, pricing, and hardware. Comparing options helps you avoid overpaying or ending up with something that doesn't fit your home or your goals.
-
We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. Sure, templated systems or AI-generated designs can speed things up, and many companies like marketing them as cutting edge, but they often miss the mark. A poorly designed system means you might miss out on savings or end up with a battery that doesn't do what you expected. We build around you, not the other way around.
-
You have consumer protections when it comes to home improvements:
Installers in California can't charge more than $1,000 for a deposit
You typically have 3 days to cancel after signing a contract for a full refund (or 5 days if you're 65 or older)
Step 2: Site Survey
A lot of companies don’t visit your home until install day. We do things differently.
Whether it’s a new solar system, a new roof, or both — construction can be unpredictable. Satellite images help with planning, but they can’t see your wiring, your attic, or the seemingly small details that impact installation.
That’s why we always do a Site Survey. We’ll come to your home, check the wiring, inspect the roof, and make sure everything’s ready to go. We’ll walk you through what we’re going to do, where it’s all going to happen — and make sure there are no surprises. We even bring a drone to get precise measurements.
Step 3: Meet Your California-Based Project Manager
Call centers can be frustrating. You call in, get bounced around, and end up explaining the same thing to five different people. Service might be offshore, and no one really knows your name — or your project.
That’s why every customer gets their own dedicated project manager, based right here in California.
Your Project Manager will:
-
No call centers. No explaining your story over and over. Your project manager will know your name, your project, and be with you from start to finish. You can reach them directly by phone or email, without impersonal ticketing systems.
-
You’ll never be left wondering what’s next. Your project manager will keep you updated every step of the way — from design to permits, installation to inspection. They'll also help schedule any site visits and notify you when key milestones are met. And of course, if you ever want an update, just reach out. They’re always a call or email away.
-
You'll get access to your own Project Portal — an online tracker that shows real-time updates on your project. You can also download important documents like CAD designs, permits, contracts, and invoices. It syncs directly with our internal systems, so what you see is always up to date.
Step 4: CAD Designs & Permitting
Now the real prep for your install begins.
Our engineers will create a CAD (or “blueprint”) design for your system. These plans are used to secure permits and — if needed — approvals from your Homeowner’s Association.
Your project manager will keep you in the loop every step of the way. As soon as the designs are finalized and permits are approved, they’ll send over the documents. You’ll also find them anytime in your Project Portal.
Step 5: Install Day, Inspection & Final Steps
The big day arrives! Your project manager will get in touch to set the install date. Sometimes, installations happen over multiple days — especially if you’re getting both solar and a new roof — but no matter what, our in-house crew handles everything from start to finish. No subcontractors, no surprises.
After installation, your project manager will schedule the city inspection and let you know when to expect it. On inspection day, a city inspector comes by to check the work, and one of our crew members will be there too.
If you’re going solar or adding batteries, we’ll also take care of the interconnection with your utility company — that’s when the utility gives the green light and your system can officially start producing power.
Your project manager will keep you updated every step of the way, so you’re never left wondering what’s next. And they’re always just a phone call or email away if you have any questions.
Step 6. Closeout and Ongoing Support
Your project manager will do a final walk-through with you to tie up any loose ends and finish any outstanding work. If you have a solar + battery system, we’ll also send you a link so you can monitor and manage your system right from your phone or computer.
Once everything’s wrapped up, your project manager will officially close out the project. And that’s it — enjoy your new system! But this isn’t goodbye. We’ll still be here to answer any questions and support you whenever you need. We’re even here if you just want to say hi. We want you to love your new solar, battery system, or roof for years to come. Here’s to many sunny days (and cozy nights) ahead!
